RE: SENIOR INFORMATION – Spring 2010

Dear Wolf Creek Seniors, Parents and/or Guardians:

“Graduation 2010” is fast approaching. Congratulations!  We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and assistance.  Please be aware of several items regarding the end of the year procedures for graduates; please note the time-line on the back of this sheet. If you have any questions regarding any of these items, credit status, or if you are interested in playing the pre-ceremony music, being a senior speaker, or helping with graduation in any way, please contact Brenda Swanson at 651-213-2037.

1-      The graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, June 11th, 2010, at 6:30 pm.  The Graduation ceremony will take place at Lakeside School Gymnasium, 10345 Wyoming Avenue, Chisago City (This school is located just south of Hwy 8 on the west end of Chisago City.)

2-     Commencement is a voluntary event in which students may choose to participate.  Graduates  must attend graduation practice, on June 11th at 11 am at Lakeside School, in order to participate in the commencement program.  Seniors must have earned a minimum of 25.00 of the 26.00 credits by June 3, at noon, to participate in the commencement program. Seniors having less than 26 credits should be enrolled in summer session contact Stacy Bender at 651-213-2053.

3-     We will be composing a Senior Slideshow this year.  We ask that all seniors provide us with a picture of themselves as a baby/young child and a current/senior picture to include in the slideshow.  These pictures and the attached Senior 2010 Survey are due by May 27th; they can be brought in to lab, mailed to us, or emailed.  All photos will be returned- be sure you name is on he back.  Each graduate will receive a copy of the CD at the commencement ceremony.

4-     Each student in the ceremony will wear a graduation cap and gown. The caps and gowns are considered “one-time-use”.   They will be handed out after at graduation practice during the senior lunch held on the Wolf Creek Campus. Graduates can keep their cap, gown and tassel (and honor cord).  Please be sure to take it out of the wrapper and hang it up to get the wrinkles out.  Hanging it in a humid bathroom will help with wrinkles. If you choose to iron it, turn it inside out first. Wolf Creek school colors are royal blue, white, and silver.

5-     Bachman Photography will be at graduation from 5:30-6:30 for individual graduate pictures. Please see enclosed package information.  All graduate group picture will be taken at 6:00 p.m.!!!

6-     Diplomas will be granted when the student meets all graduation requirements and obligations.  Final transcripts will be mailed home.  If a student chooses not to participate in commencement, he/she may pick up their diploma at Wolf Creek on June 14th or June 28th. School Board Policy #613 states that in order to receive a diploma, all students must:
         a. Pass the Minnesota Basic Standards Tests in reading, mathematics, and written
composition, as per state requirements or higher guidelines.
         b. Complete
26.00 course credit requirements and graduation standards, as established by
               the school board.
         c.   Return all materials and pay all fines, charges, etc. (including $20 graduation fee).
