Board Meeting Minutes
2:00 p.m.
Board members present: Dr. Sherryl Johnson, Tracy Quarnstrom, Brenda Swanson, Randy Sprecher

Chair
Tracy Quarnstrom called the meeting to order at 2:04 p.m. in the Chisago Lakes
Schools District Office.
Roll
call was taken. Randy Sprecher, the new
parent board member, was welcomed.
Johnson made motion to approve minutes of the September 17, 2002
meeting, Swanson seconded, motion carried.
Expenditures
were approved in the amount of $5,026.40.
Sherryl
Johnson discussed with Jason Kerkow tutoring charter school students in math
studies. He is willing to work two
hours per week starting Tuesday, 10/21/02 at 3:00 p.m.
Quarnstrom
and Swanson indicated an interest in attending the Classroom Connect Conference
in Seattle, WA on November 18-21, 2002 for a total cost of approximately
$3,348.80. Johnson made motion to
approve sending two teachers to Classroom Connect Conference with amount listed
as maximum and look at possible cheaper rates.
Swanson seconded the motion, motion passed.
Discussion
was held on the lease and the Board felt they are not liable for the full lease
payment of $15,771 because they didn’t occupy part of the lease space until
September 16, 2002 and expect to occupy the remainder by November 1, 2002. Johnson made motion to continue to
investigate lease issues with Chisago Lakes School District #2144 and bring
information to next board meeting.
Swanson seconded the motion, motion passed.
A
Federal Charter School Grant Title V has been awarded to the charter school in
the amount of $140,000. Swanson made
motion to accept the Title V Federal Charter School start-up grant, Sprecher
seconded, motion passed.
Quarnstrom
requested that she be given the title Dean of Students to reflect her work with
the charter school as teacher, counselor and administrative intern. Quarnstrom was dismissed from the meeting
while discussion was held. Johnson made
motion to formalize Tracy Quarnstrom’s title to Dean of Students/Learning
Manager. Swanson seconded the motion,
motion passed.
Discussion
was held about the draft for Agreement between TRIO Wolf Creek Distance
Learning Charter School #4095 and Chisago Lakes Schools ISD #2144 and the
yearly fee per student. Suggestion was
made that there be more clarification for administrative services,
clerical/support services, and technological services. Transportation services and Food services
will be eliminated from the draft because these services are billed as used and
not contracted.
The
next meeting will be Tuesday, November12, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. in the Board Room
of ISD 2144.
Johnson
made a motion that meeting be adjourned, Swanson seconded the motion, motion
carried. Meeting adjourned at 3:15 p.m.
